- Sharks Cannot Produce Sound and Have No Vocal Cords:
While many other fish species can produce sounds by rubbing their bones together or using their swim bladders, sharks—being cartilaginous fish—have no vocal cords or sound-producing organs. They hunt in complete silence and communicate with each other exclusively through body language or electroreceptive senses.
- Some Fish Have Taste Buds All Over Their Bodies:
Catfish, in particular, have over 27,000 taste buds covering their entire body (compared to around 10,000 in humans). These taste receptors are located on their barbels (whiskers), fins, and skin. This allows them to effectively "taste" the water as they swim through murky mud, locating prey without even needing to see it.
